This study aims to clarify the ruling on selling vegetable oil in its original state, particularly the sale of olive oil along with the olives in our country. The study includes two main inquiries: the first one focuses on presenting the opinions of scholars and their evidence regarding the sale of vegetable oil in its original state. The second inquiry addresses the possibility of analogizing the issue of selling oil in its original state to "Bay’a ala’raya" (the sale of a number of ripe dates that are still on the palm trees based on an estimation of the dates on the ground using dry measurement), with the application of legal preference. The study concludes that it is not permissible to analogize the issue of selling vegetable oil in its original state to Bay’a ala’raya, as the reason for the ruling does not apply in this context. Furthermore, the study finds that selling vegetable oil in its original state is not permissible according to Islamic jurisprudence, as they cannot be equated as the same category.
